Dunvegan and the surrounding area is an ideal base for walking, climbing and bird watching with the spectacular scenery of the Cuillins and MacLeod's Tables as a back drop.

Three miles from the Dunorin House Hotel is Dunvegan Castle home to the chiefs of the Clan MacLeod for over 800 years. The castle is built on a rocky outcrop on the shores of Loch Dunvegan and is the oldest inhabited castle in Scotland. There are five acres of formal gardens featuring a different mix of plants, woodland areas and the water garden with ornate bridges & islands. You can take a boat trip to the seal colony out in Loch Dunvegan, from the pier below the castle. Castle open from April – October.

The Orbost gallery is situated on the Roag/Orbost loop road about 2 miles form the hotel. The gallery exhibits paintings and prints which celebrate the landscape of Skye and the Highlands. Open April – October.

Skyescape gallery is situated on the Harlosh peninsula about 10minutes drive from the hotel. The gallery specialises in digital art photography, and exhibits images of Skye, the highlands and islands. We have examples of the framed images in the lounge a dining room of the hotel, and the gallery has proved very popular with our guests. Open all year.

Skyeskyns is situated on the Waternish peninsula on the West coast of Skye about 20minutes drive from the hotel. A visit to Skyeskyns includes a free guided tour to see how leather is made. There is a showroom with rugs, throws, clothing and much more. Open all year.

The Talisker distillery is situated on the Duirnish peninsula about 20mins drive south from the hotel. Talisker is Skye’s only single malt, you can enjoy a complimentary dram before your tour of the distillery. There is also a shop to buy your bottle to take home! Open all year.
